Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress, best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington located in Ohio dropped out high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first part as the title character in the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002, she was awarded an Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal of Murder in Greenwich of a 15-year aged Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to win. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and also won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on an even more prominent role in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress has also appeared on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 as well as in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. In 2008, she played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace played the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. Grace appeared on Californication's 6th season, which aired from 2013 to 2014. The character she plays is Faith as an admirer and muse to the celebrities. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in films starring her father in his adolescent years. Along with her brother, she was also in Donnie Darko (2000). Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the main character in Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she had several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). She was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom on screen in Crazy Heart. The following year, she starred in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles include her character as the primary protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
